The Mountain Girls of Baltistan Made New History

The grand daughters of renowned mountaineer, Muhammad Karim, popularly known in the mountaineering community as Little Karim; Amina Hanif, 13 years old, Siddiqa Batool 15 and Maryam Bashir, 14 climbed 6050m Mingling Sar Peak. The team started the expedition on 16th of July 2018 and completed on 24th of July. With the success of this expedition three youngsters became the youngest climbers in the world to summit any 6050 meters high mountain in the world. The young mountaineers in this expedition were accompanied by Muhammad Hanif, father of Amina Hanif (mountaineer by profession) and another Spanish climber Mrs. Marya Marco. The three youngsters are the first three students of Little Karim Mountaineering School established by the mountaineering expert Little Karim in Ghanche District of Gilgit Baltistan, the first ever mountaineering school in the mountain rich area of Gilgit Baltistan. Little Karim is a renowned high altitude mountaineer and porter from Husha Valley of District Ghanche. He is well known as legend of Karakorum having summitted K2, the second highest peak in the world after Mount Everest a total of nine times without supplemental Oxygen. French and Spanish filmmakers directed a number of documentaries to acknowledge the courage of Little Karim that won many accolades in Europe.
Karim is ambitious to promote mountain sports in the remote area of Gilgit-Baltistan, with the success of the first expedition Little Karim hopes that more youngsters will be trained to climb the high altitude mountains in the region.
